Nancy Farina Johnston
leadership & transition coach
Are you truly interested in growth? Do you think it’s possible to grow at any age and any stage of life? What are you willing to let go of in order to move forward? Change is not always comfortable but I work alongside you to ease your way and provide a safe space for you to think out loud, explore possibilities, discover some steps to take now, and then later.
People ask “What are the deliverables?” “What is the outcome?” Any change we make has to come from within. Let's find a new perspective. How can you prime yourself to be more open to change? Come with me to step outside yourself and take a look. I am objective, yet warm. Logical, yet emotional. Smart, and soulful.
Like most people, I have faced losses – jobs, my spouse, parents, changed homes, cities, roles, careers. I value resilience, and I can recognize it in others. I define resilience as an ability to “bounce forward” and not just return to the same equilibrium you had before the disruption. Let me help you find your own resilience. Let’s use the turmoil to rethink, rewire, reorient yourself to the possibilities that the future will bring.
I have worked with hundreds of people of all ages, and from disparate career paths to gain clarity and focus for their next steps. I am the Director of Alumni Career Management at Columbia Business School. Prior to moving to New York, I worked at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business in both Corporate Relations and Career Services, providing career coaching and programming to students and alumni. Other experience in the field of coaching and career management includes working as an Executive Coach at Right Management in the Career Transitions practice.
I am a certified coach in the popular Designing Your Life program. I am also certified in the Tiara Model for True Leadership (SM), and very familiar with a variety of other assessments. I earned a Master of Arts degree in Counseling and Organizational Psychology from Adler University – fulfilling a lifelong interest in human psychology. I have an MBA in Marketing and Finance from DePaul University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing from Loyola University.

I want to know what’s important to you.
How do you want to spend your precious time?
We will start by investigating your backstory. How did you get to where you are? Where would you really like to go? What would it take to get there?
We will review your professional and personal brand – your resume, LinkedIn profile, and the stories you tell that align with where you want to go. You may need to do some prototyping in order to learn what works and for you. I’ll provide direction on creating a target list of companies, or individuals you want to learn more about.
